How to Remove Black Bars in CS2

Many players prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio in CS2 because it makes player models wider, boosts FPS, and can be more comfortable to play with. Although the image becomes slightly stretched or darker, this doesn’t bother most players — and you can easily play CS2 with this setup.

How to Set 4:3 Resolution in CS2

1. Open CS2 settings.

2. Go to the “Video” category and then “Graphics”.

3. Set the “Display Mode” to “Full Screen”.

4. Under “Aspect Ratio”, select “Normal 4:3”.

5. Choose your preferred resolution.

6. If your monitor supports refresh rates above 60Hz, select the correct value — this may reset after changing aspect ratio.

7. Click “Apply Changes”.

How to Remove Black Bars in CS2

When you first use the 4:3 aspect ratio, black bars may appear on the sides. You can remove them through your GPU settings.

For Nvidia users:

1. Open Nvidia Control Panel (right-click on desktop → “Nvidia Control Panel”).

2. Go to “Adjust desktop size and position.”

3. Under “Scaling”, choose “Full-screen.”

4. Under “Perform scaling on”, select “GPU.”

5. Click “Apply.”

For AMD users:

1. Open AMD Radeon Software (right-click → “AMD Radeon Settings”).

2. Click the settings icon (top right).

3. Go to the “Display” tab and scroll to “GPU Scaling.”

4. Enable “GPU Scaling.”

5. In “Scaling Mode,” choose “Full Panel.”

6. Go to the “Games” tab, select CS2, and again set “Full Panel.”

Benefits of 4:3 Format

The biggest advantage of the 4:3 format is the noticeable FPS boost. In some cases, performance can increase by up to +60 FPS, which is crucial for competitive gameplay.
